reasons i am psyched right now
1. Yoga works wonders, and I can walk like a normal human again (not yet run, but I’m on track—pun intended).
2. Just had a great meeting followed by a great interview. I love my job/life.
3. Class starts again tonight!! Remind me later how amped I am for biostatistics, because I’m sure this feeling will fade. Today, though, I’m looking forward to sitting front row with a...
running fail
My right calf decided 24 years spent supporting my toe-walking habit was enough, and gave out on me yesterday … a mile and a half down the trail … just as it started to rain. The worst part of the 20-minute, wet walk back home was the walking part. Pain and rain I can take, but my pride hurt as runners jetted past me. I’m stretching it constantly, but the half marathon may be a...
exceptionally Maggie
I resent having to say “just Maggie” [as opposed to the assumed Margaret].
girls with bangs
courtesy of my Stuff White People Like day calendar
It is a known fact that white people love women who wear their hair with bangs that hang straight down. This simple haircut makes a bold declaration by saying that the wearer is artistic, deep, and has probably dated a guy in a band you like. When you are introduced to a group of white people, it’s a good idea to befriend the girl with...
my note the other day on singing in the AM? solo dance party completely amplifies the “c’mon-get-happy” vibe.
iiiiiii just wanna fly
put your arms around me, baby
– ah remember Sugar Ray
my favorite spinning instructor chooses our songs on a theme. this morning’s was flying, and included songs with flying in the title/chorus and randoms like an Eagles hit and Three Little Birds from Bob Marley. loved it.
Dear Tumblr,
There’s a chance my job would send me to Haiti. I am so excited at the possibility of getting on the ground and making a difference rather than sitting in my office and donating money. In the spirit of The Secret I have said out loud I can’t count how many times, “I will go to Haiti.” So cross your fingers that I’ll be chosen!!
let it go
If I’m more than two steps away from a door, I’d prefer if it wasn’t held for me. I understand this is culturally polite, but it brings this pressure to hurry for it so the holder doesn’t have to wait. I would rather walk at my own pace and reopen the door myself. Maybe next time I’m the first through I won’t hold it but will call over my shoulder, “You...
My coworkers kill me
somethingperfect:
My office had a belated holiday celebration today. Everyone gathered around the kitchen table for a nice potluck lunch and nice non-work related conversation. Like about how they don’t understand the abbreviations their children use. Which is when one of them decided it was an appropriate time to ask me what a MILF is. IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!
I told them I couldn’t say and they...

visiting with two friends i haven’t seen in a while tonight: katie & the capital crescent trail. many miles worth of catching up to do.
big bang theory [so underrated]
Leonard: remember when you tried to learn how to swim using the Internet
Sheldon: i did learn how to swim
Leonard: on the floor
Sheldon: the skills are transferable. i just have no interest in going in the water
Leonard: then why learn how to swim?
Sheldon: the ice caps are melting, Leonard. in the future swimming isn't going to be optional
naptime
Winter break from grad school has been the sweetest thing ever. I have time to cross off my personal to-dos, time to read, time to nap!! I realize some may think it nuts to get out of bed at 5:30AM to go to spinning when I have no set plans for after work, but right now, with my workout already checked off, I can tackle a scholarship application, The Washington Post, and some pre-dinner slumber.

– BORN TO RUN
I can’t remember the last time I swallowed a book in three days. Beyond expectations.
